Beautiful

Since it's the holidays, I thought it'd be a fitting time to honor a woman that is truly beautiful. She still teaches me every day what beauty and glamour are, sometimes without even realizing it! Growing up, she was often the encourager and cheerleader of our house. She was, and still is, my example of what a classy, beautiful woman is.

"Everything is better in black" she'd say to my sister and I while we were on one of our many shopping trips.

"Always take the time to get ready before going anywhere. And don't do it for anyone else but yourself. It takes no more effort to put on jeans instead of sweatpants." We weren't ever allowed to wear sweat pants in public! :)

"Always invest in classic pieces. They will stand the test of time and never go out of style." This explains my large collection of little black dresses and pencil skirts.

"Smile! You never know who needs to see one!" She always taught us to constantly be thinking of others.

"You are beautiful."

My mom is hands down one of the most stylish, classy, and fabulous women I know. She taught me to take pride in my appearance because looking good, helps you feel good! She taught me the tricks of the trade in shopping. If you think I can shop, you really should meet the woman who taught me to! She also taught me the importance of always being considerate of others and how beauty on the inside is what really matters. I even remember her giving the security guards at her office Valentine's day presents because she wanted to make sure they had something!

More than anything though, my mom encourages me when I feel hopeless, she cheers for me when I need it, and she shows me everyday what it means to be beautiful.

Tartan

In the spirit of the Holidays, lets talk about a wardrobe trend that's totally happening lately: Tartan. You're probably wondering what the heck it is. Let me enlighten you.

Tartan

It's a European looking plaid and it's literally everywhere lately! I think it's totally becoming a thing!

As you can see, even two of my favorites, Princess Kate and Rhianna are rocking it! It doesn't necessarily have to be red, but since that's my favorite color and its almost Christmas (!!!) let's look at a few of my favorite red versions!

Back in February during Fall 2012 Fashion week, Michael Kors sent a show down the runway that had a warm and cozy fall feel and... you guessed it, lots of Tartan!

Michael Kors Fall 2012  Plaid and leather.

Fabulous right?! It makes me want to grab some hot chocolate and head to the ski resort! Anyways, I've been thinking about ways I (we!) could rock this trend and I got so excited because there are so many ways! Here are my 3 favorite!

1. Scarves are the obvious option. I have seen so many red tartan ones around New York (they're a classic y'all), it's not even funny. And now that they're in, it's the perfect time to snatch one up! Mix it with something funky like leopard print or stripes! Print mixing is totally a thing too ya know! ;)

2. A skirt with a cozy sweater is another option. Michael Kors had tons of those. Just make sure it's not pleated so you don't end up looking like you're wearing a kilt! I like a pencil skirt balanced out with some tights and tough looking ankle booties instead of pumps.

3. Plaid flannel shirts have been a go to for a while now and finding one in this totally of the moment print is another great option that I highly recommend! Pair it with leggings or skiny jeans and some knee high boots and you're set!

Like I said, there's lots of ways to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe so be creative and try something new! I saw a messenger bag with this print the other day that was adorable and perfect for spicing up a drab winter outfit! :)

What do you think? Will you be incorporating this trend into your wardrobe? What ideas do you have for wearing it?

Five things on a Friday

Happy Friday y'all!! I love the weekend and have lots going on so please excuse the randomness of this post!

1. My husband and I are having date night tonight and I'm SO excited! We're going to eat dinner at our favorite little Vietnamese place and then to see a movie. I have no idea what I'm going to wear but I'm definitely looking forward to getting all dolled up just for him! I may even do a dress and some tights!

2. My very VERY talented friend took some pictures of us for our Christmas cards as a wedding gift this week. She's an amazing mom to 4 and a crazy talented photographer. We've only seen a couple of pictures so far but here's one:

Isn't she so good?! I can't wait to see the rest!!

3. Just a quick update, I am absolutely LOVING my new job! I love getting to meet so many beautiful women and being able to spend time making them realize their own beauty. I am so blessed to be able to do it. Makeup is such a fun thing and it's been a really great tool to use to show women how amazing they really are.

4. Speaking of my job, Elizabeth Arden makes a fabulous product called Prevage Clinical Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum and my boss has been raving about it. Well, she sent me a free full size sample of it today in the mail! SWEET! Basically it's like Lattise so it helps your lashes grow. BUT its not as expensive, doesn't require a perscription, and doesn't have scary side effects. I'm really excited about using it! I'll be sure to let y'all know how I like it and when I start seeing results! :)

5. As I mentioned here, I love painting my nails! One thing I love about the Christmas season is sparkly red nail polish! Or red with glitter. Anyways, I'm totally planning on doing mine red today! YAY! I'll take some pics if I can! It's so fun to be able to get into the holiday spirit in every way possible! I know, I'm part elf. ;)

Well I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I'll be working at the counter all weekend so if you're in the area, stop by and see me!

Love y'all!

What if?

You know what I'm really bad at? Gracefully accepting a compliment. And I don't just mean a compliment from a stranger, like even compliments from my husband. He pointed it out to me too. So it kinda got me thinking. And I've been thinking about it the last few days. Kind of wrestling with it and trying to see if I was the only one who did this. You know what I figured out? I'm not the only one. And the weird thing is that almost every day, I see a beautiful girl or woman do the same thing!

And I also noticed that us girls are so good at pointing out our flaws. Frizzy hair and imperfect skin...what? but we are rarely willing to discuss what we love about ourselves. I work with women all day. It's my job to talk about skincare and makeup routines and the latest lip colors with women all day long. And the funny thing about it is, that it seems like there are some beauty topics that some women don't feel comfortable contributing to for one reason or another. But the one topic that it seems like every woman has something to contribute to is a conversation about what we all don't like about ourselves.

But what if we all stopped talking about what we don't like about ourselves? What if we started to gracefully accept compliments with a smile? What if we complimented each other a little more? And what if we started figuring out and having conversations about what we do like about ourselves? How would things change?

Love yourself!

I think a lot of things would change. No seriously! For one, I think we'd get a few more compliments from our men. No more arguing every time they compliment us would probably feel like a nice break for them. We'd definitely smile a lot more throughout our days. And maybe, just maybe we would all get to a point where we wouldn't even consider our flaws and become fully aware of how beautiful we all really are.

Target/ Neiman Marcus

Have you made plans for Saturday already? Well perfect, I'll help you make some!

Every day. If they built lofts above it, I'd live there!

Yes, you have to get your fabulous little self to Target! For REAL! I'll tell you why.

Target is doing another fabulous collaboration that I can't wait to get my hands on again! You're gonna love it too, promise! The last one was with Italian designer Missoni and it was great. I got some adorable suede stacked heels with a cute chevron print on the toe and some textured black tights. LOVE them both! This time, Target is collaborating with Neiman Marcus which means a good sized group of some amazing designers like Marc Jacobs and Tory Birch! squee!

You can check out the collection here. And in the mean time, let's make our shopping lists, shall we? :)

- Brian Atwood studded leather gloves. SO beyond chic, and perfect for the cold weather.

-This Marc Jacobs pouch almost brings me to tears. My FAVORITE accessories designer at one of my favorite stores for under $100? YES PLEASE.

-There's also this Marc Jacobs Scarf that would go with....everything.

-I need a new lunch box for work and This Tory Birch would be so chic.

-You can never have too many totes, especially when they are Oscar dela Renta.

This is totally just a starting place. But I mean please do yourself a favor and grab a coffee and hit those isles with one of those blessed red carts! I know I plan on doing so!

So tell me girls, what do you think? will you be making the trip out to Target this weekend to snag one of these items? If so, which one?

Love y'all!

New Things

Now that we're through Thanksgiving, I'm BACK! I attempted to disconnect a bit during the holiday and spend some time being overly lazy decompressing over the weekend. As I mentioned here I had exciting things in the works! Well, the news is that I started a new job! I'm the newest beauty consultant at the Elizabeth Arden counter in my area. I was pretty nervous about this because well, I mean it was a big change from my last job. At the same time though, I was excited because well... let's be honest, I've got a few beauty junkie tendencies!

Anyways, I'm totally loving it and having so much fun learning about makeup, selling like crazy, and making tons of new friends! It just so happens too that I landed this little job around the time I needed new mascara! If you read my post here then you know I was on the hunt! Well, I got one!

Ceramide Lash Extending Treatment Mascara
It's by Elizabeth Arden and I promise I wouldn't be telling you girls about it if I wasn't in love. Promise!

Ok so it's called Ceramide lash extending treatment mascara. woah that's a mouthful. Ceramide is a triple complex that does 3 important things: strengthens (stronger lashes duh!), hydrates  (they aren't growing if they aren't moisturized), and resurfaces (hello longer lashes). This is perfect for our lashes because this means it doesnt make them all gross and brittle! It helps them! And it actually does lengthen your lashes. Like mine are currently hitting my brow bones! It's crrrazzyy! AND it doesn't flake off! I've tried a few that I feel do a good job lengthening, but they have pretty much migrated to my under eye area and cheeks by 5pm. Not this bad boy! It stays put and it's fabulous. Oh, and did I mention that it doesn't clump? So not only are my lashes longgg but my mascara doesn't look caked on! It's $20 a tube too! Which actually isn't horrible for department store mascara. Ladies, do your eyelashes a favor and go. get. some.

I'm thinking I may buy this one more than once (gasp!) and never look back! ;)

Tell me if you go out and get it! I'd love to hear your reviews! Hope you're all having a fabulous week!

Pre Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

In case you've been living under a rock or don't own a calendar, I'd like to inform you that tomorrow is Thanksgiving! If you're none of those things, you already know and probably have plans to make the rounds at a family Thanksgiving dinner or two. We are going over to dinner at some friends of ours' house. Both of us have demanding work schedules this year so we aren't able to get home. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to tomorrow and the chance to spend it with some amazing friends who are like family!

I've been totally racking my brain about what to wear tomorrow! I mean I want to look cute BUT I'm not trying to have something so tight on that will show the food baby we all know I'll have! I did a bit of browsing on pinterest (best site EVER) and came up with some ideas so I wanted to share! :)

If your gathering is casual, a nice loose tunic sweater would be great! And make sure the jeans are stretchy or trade them for jeggings!

"Prada" by valentinelove17 on Polyvore

A wispy, romantic dress with a cardigan and tights would be adorable! Something like this would work great with either round toe heels or flat boots!

casual

Embellished collars are huge this season and lucky for us, the silhouette they're usually paired with is pretty loose on top.  I got a couple of tops like this last week and I love them! Oh, and can we all say thank you JESUS for jeggings/ leggings?! They're totally the comfy way to wear extra skinny looking jeans and still be comfy.I would do this outfit with heels or some cute ballet flats. Hair down or a topknot work too!

xox Spencer

And last but not least, sweater dresses are appropriate for every occasion and a loose one is perfect for this holiday! I love how throwing on a dress and a necklace automatically makes you look so put together with minimal effort! :) I'd add tights and boots to this outfit and call it a day! :)

Sweater dress. #obsessed.

I'm not 100% sure which outfit I'm going to wear, but hopefully this helped you ladies with some ideas for yours. Where are you spending the holiday? Will you be using any of these outfit ideas?

I hope you all have a happy and fabulous Thanksgiving with the ones you love!

What I Wore

I promised y'all we'd have an outfit post coming didn't I? A proper southern belle never goes back on a promise!

So when we went to NYC/ Long Island, we basically had one day in the city. We spent the rest of our time in Long Island. Since it was my first trip to the City, I knew it'd be a long and crazy day, with no time for wardrobe changes (gasp!) so whatever I was wearing had to work for daytime tourism, a concert we made plans to go to, and a late night drink. I also wanted to make sure I wasn't carrying around a bulky jacket all day, especially in any stores. Y'all know I went shopping! ;) The temps were in the 50s which was actually pretty nice for this time of year up here but also not warm. Yes I know I sound like a crazy lady to all you Texans!

Let's take a look. Sorry if the pictures are blurry. These are from my phone so they're not the highest resolution. Anyways, There's lots going on here:

Hair: topknot to keep it out of my face. Also, my hair can be kind of wild and crazy and just wander around without adult supervision so I wanted a hairstyle that would keep it under control.
White tank with white longsleeve v-neck: you can't really see that I'm wearing these, but they are there. Mostly for warmth. Ever since I moved to NY, I've learned to layer like a pro!
Chambray button up: These little denim tops are so versatile it's crazy. I'm literally that person who would wear this shirt 3 times a week if I could.
Fur vest: So fun! So warm! And way cuter than a hoodie and not as bulky as a jacket
Courduroy-ish leggings: These are the MOST comfortable things ever. And they're warm too!
Black motorcycle boots: flat for comfort and tough enough to offset the soft vest. I wear these things all the time!
Black hobo bag: literally one of the biggest purses I have. Everything but the kitchen sink y'all!

I also threw on a long silver necklace with a locket and a shorter one with a diamond pendant. I really love the look of layering necklaces that are different lengths.

I felt like this was the perfect outfit for the day. The vest kept it interesting so I didn't feel under dressed at the concert or even while shopping. It was warm too, so it actually did have function!! And overall, the outfit was comfy, so I wasn't dying to peel myself out of it in like 2 hours! I totally hate that feeling!

I really feel like each piece of this outfit is super versatile and you could wear them a million other ways. My mom always told me not to buy a clothing item unless you can think of at least 3 different ways to wear it. Pretty good advice if you ask me!

White ribbed tank: Hollister
White ribbed v-neck: Abercrombie & Fitch
Chambray Button up: Forever 21
Fur vest: Nordstrom
Silver necklace with locket: Forever 21
Corduroy Leggings: Hue at Macys
Motorcycle Boots: MIA
Black hobo bag: Aldo

I hope this outfit gives you some ideas for your next outing! Don't be afraid to try something new!

Have a fabulous week and show me some of your outfits!

Five Things on a Friday

five
These have absolutely nothing to do with anything but they are pastel colored French macaroons therefore a picture containing 5 of them is fabulous.

1. Is it really already Friday again? I feel like Friday was only two days ago. This week has been insane. Just so crazy busy. And I promise I'm going to have an outfit post or five for you soon. I just haven't had enough time to even breathe this past week. Things should be slowing down soon though hopefully. I am so thankful for such a full life with an amazing man. My husband takes good care of me y'all.

2. CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE!!! I'm a fan of Christmas (if you can't tell) and I am literally counting down the days until I can transform our house into the north pole decorate for Christmas. I've got my hot chocolate and Christmas carols ready and waiting. My poor husband isn't going to know what hit him!

3. Do you ever have periods in your life when you wish you weren't being a deep thinker about everything? I'm totally in a "deep thinking" phase lately where I feel like the Lord is just leading me on this journey and I'm supposed to be taking lots of notes because there's so much information. It's great and I'm pretty excited about it but sometimes, it's tiring. Sometimes I want to have lots less going on in my head.

4. I am in desperate need of a new mascara. It's really bad. But buying a mascara is a process for me. No seriously, like I can't just walk into Ulta and get the same one every time. I have to read all the advertisements about the new ones, look at packaging, and decide if I really want longer or fuller lashes (rarely are there mascaras that promise both!). And then it's a choice between "blackest black" and "coal black." I've never met a mascara I've bought twice in a row so then I sit there trying to remember which ones I thought were decent. This process usually ends with me walking out with more than one mascara, ecstatic to try them. Hi I'm Victoria Peryer and I'm addicted to mascara.

5. It's getting colder in my neck of the woods, which means I'm going to be transitioning my summer/ spring clothes out of my closet. I've never lived in an area where this is necessary, but let me tell you that in Northern New York, it makes no sense to know what sorts of thin airy shirts you have available to you in mid November. I'm always a little sad for my summer clothes having to go into boxes. Summer is my favorite time of year so I like to try to hold onto it for as long as possible. Even if it means longingly staring at my fab little tanks when it's 20 degrees outside. But sweaters are fun and so are scarves and layering! And I think having them all out in place of my tiny little summer clothes helps me embrace the season!

Brett and I don't have a whole lot planned this weekend aside from seeing the new Twilight movie (squee!), church, and celebrating a friend's birthday. Woah. That's a busy weekend. What about you? What do you plan on doing this weekend? Will you join me and the masses in seeing the new Twilight movie?

I hope you all have a fun, relaxing next few days. Leave me a comment and tell me about it, I love hearing from ya!

Stripped

I've really been struggling with writing about this topic because it's still something I struggle with almost every day. But it's been really heavy on my heart so maybe I'm supposed to share it for a reason.

Did you know that Northern New York is different from upstate New York? I didn't either. It's actually the region above the Catskills (all the way by Canada) and is ever so affectionately called the "North Country." The North Country is now my home. The city town I live in is called Watertown and it's about 30 minutes from the Canadian border. It's very different from San Antonio. That's where I grew up.

Watertown doesn't have very many stores (a few and thank Jesus its growing!). It definitely doesn't have a Forever 21 or a Nordstrom. Gasp! And you're right if you guessed that having access to the very latest in fashion isn't an easy thing (unless you count Target and Charlotte Rousse... which aren't horrible options, but lets be real).

Now insert me. The labels lady. The girl who turned her nose up at clothes from last season. Don't even mention 2-3 seasons ago. And what's that you say? The nearest Forever 21 is an hour away and the nearest Nordstrom is 5 hours away? *faints*

Oh the task of making yourself feel beautiful when you are stripped of the labels you love, and cut off from the convenience of a big city with world class shopping.... How does a girl achieve such a thing you ask? It's not easy let me tell you, and it has absolutely nothing to do with clothes.

Being filled with Jesus is the best beauty we can wear

It's funny how sometimes when the Lord wants to teach us something, He strips things in our lives away. I'll tell you girls, He sure is doing that with me. I mean, here I am in this beautiful place with none of the fashion amenities I'm used to and a closet that's looking less and less like it fell out of the pages of a magazine. And I'm supposed to figure out how to continually look at myself in the mirror (in clothes from 3 years ago) and see beauty. Let me be honest with you and say that I don't always see it. My husband does (God bless him) but if we're being honest, I have to say that I don't. And it's not like I have all these other ways to cover it up or things to focus on instead. I've reached a point where all those things, whatever they may be, are gone too. I'm stripped and the only place I have to turn is to Jesus.

I know, I know, you're wondering what He has to do with everything. I felt the same way at first too. And it's so crazy because literally Jesus in my life is the only thing that makes me truly feel pretty.

As discussed last week, His death on the cross to save us is a really awesome start. But it's just a start and it's so fabulous it makes me want to jump around my living room! Because He says He knows we are going to mess up every day so not to worry, because His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). And He says that our beauty doesn't come from anything on the outside, not crazy fab hair, or amazing clothes but from the inside (1 Peter 3:3-4).  Even more encouraging, is that He says we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). I could literally go on until tomorrow with Bible verses because the Bible is such a love letter. There are so many! But the sweetest part, the part that gets me through a rough day, is His whisper in my ear that He loves me. Like, the inconvenient, life sacrificing, overwhelming, all consuming, slap you in face, make you feel great kind of love. And somehow I just know that if He loves me, there's no way I'm not beautiful.

I hope with all of my heart that each one of you fabulous readers finds that love. It is truly life changing.

The City

We are finally home from quite a weekend! I still have to finish unpacking and getting ready for the week but I wanted to share a few pics with you guys.

This is on the Brooklyn Bridge. Definitely going to print and frame this!

We met up with one of my sorority sisters from college for lunch and some fun in Bryant Park. Adore her.

My husband's friend was our host for the weekend and he was amazing. He took us all around town, let us stay at his house, and brought us to some of the best restaurants in the area. The man is a saint!

Can we all just take a moment and acknowledge how gorgeous my husband is!?

We met up with a friend of mine from middle school for a late night drink. Love her.

NY style pizza is outta this world. No wonder most New Yorkers I know are such pizza snobs! Oh yeah, I really did fold the pizza like a true New Yorker and everything! ;)

It was a wonderful, fabulous weekend!! I am in. love. with that city. I didn't want the weekend to be over! It was so much fun. I've got a couple of outfit posts in store so stay tuned!

How did you spend your weekend?

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

5 things on a Friday

1. I'm headed to Long Island and New York City for the weekend. Actually en route now. I'm SO excited. I've never been to New York. We are going to a baptism Sunday and spending the day in the City tomorrow. Did I mention I'm excited?

2. Remember our discussion about oxblood the other day? I took my own advice and got some fabulous oxblood tights for my all black outfit I plan on wearing to the baptism Sunday. They were $5 at Target. Go snatch em up!!

3. I have every intention of pigging out, I mean enjoying lots of good food this weekend. I'm a total foodie and can't wait to get some good food in my belly! Chinese and NY style pizza are on the list for sure.

4. I've got some new things in the works in my life so please say a prayer for me! :) all good stuff!! Ill share deets as soon as things play out.

5. I have a habit of overpacking. Like where I bring my weight in clothes along with me everywhere. It's really bad. I don't necessarily know what I brought to wear this weekend but I think (hope) there is some pretty cute stuff in there! Obviously I have options. I'll be takin pics and doing some outfit posts this week. Yay!

Well I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and spend some time doing something fun!! I'll be thinking of you girls and can't wait to chat!

A Man Named Marc

I got married on September 22. It was the most perfect day of my life. My husband is the most perfect man to ever walk the earth. But I have a secret.....

I'm in love with another man. His name is Marc Jacobs.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Spot On - Large' Satchel

The man can make a handbag.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Too Hot To Handle' Shopper

MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Preppy - Camera' Leather Crossbody Bag
Image via Nordstrom

I mean seriously.

He's got a really amazing line of bags and accessories that are just the right mix of trendy and edgy. All the leather is always as soft as butter and they come in "of the moment" colors each season. Ohmygosh I sound like a sales person. He's my favorite designer though and if I could have a new bag of his every week, that still wouldn't be enough! These bags just give me butterflies girls! It's total infatuation!

They can be a bit pricey but I totally think they're worth it if you think of them as investment pieces. I have a Marc Jacobs bag I got about 3 years ago. It's still in great shape. The leather is still soft and looks new. Oh and more importantly, it doesn't have all these logos plastered everywhere! :) So if you're on the market for a new bag (Personally, I always am) you should totally check em out! Or even just browse em and take notes and create "the look for less!" That's what I've been doing as of late. Student loans are NO JOKE.

Well now you girls got me lusting over another bag or three... Maybe my husband will read this post before Christmas! ;)

Grey

I'm a nail polish junkie. No really. Like I can't physically walk by that Essie end cap at Target without stopping to "oooh" and "aahhh." And lets not even talk about walking into Sally's beauty supply! I know some of y'all know what I'm talking about. I have a friend (God bless her) who is the same way and I love that about her. Most of our text messaging history entails pictures of our latest manicures and new nail polish colors we've bought. It's fabulous. She's fabulous.

Anyways, I mentioned this in my first post and I'm dying to discuss this with some people who are actually interested (unlike my husband)!  So grey nail polish is totally a thing this season. Again. It's been a thing for a while. Let's take a peek:

OPI touring america collection (fall 2011) - french quarter for your thoughts. Loooove grey nailpolish.

grey nails

At this moment, I'm feeling like I love it. But for Fall only. Personally, I think it's too drab for winter. Although it does look totally cute with that cozy sweater in the picture doesn't it?!  It really feels just right for that transition from sunny pinks and oranges to dark vampy winter colors. I have this grey by OPI called "You Don't know Jacques" and it's really the perfect grey.

OPI Nail Polish You Don't Know Jacques! 0.5 oz.: http://www.amazon.com/OPI-Nail-Polish-Dont-Jacques/dp/B001E25G0W/?tag=pinteresttuto-20

See I told you. I love that its dark enough not to wash out my skin (these are not my hands in case you were wondering!) but not too dark for fall either. It's a hard color to find so if you see it at a store, snatch it! :)
Sidenote: That same fab friend of mine told me that her manicurist told her that Essie nail polishes are made to stay longer on natural nails and OPI are made for artificial nails. Not sure how true this is but it's kind of a cool fact anyways!

So let's chat! How do you feel about grey nail polish? Is it tired (it's been a thing for like the past bajillion fall seasons) or is it totally fabulous (and worthy of classic status like red)? Leave me a comment! I'd love to hear from ya! :)

Who Me?

So I told ya'll we would be talking about other things besides fashion that still relate to beauty. Today is one of those days. Let's start with a little bit of my story (just a little, I promise!).

Growing up, I really struggled with finding my value. Seriously, I was always so insecure and it permeated everything I did. So I tried to compensate for it with extra over the top grades or relationships, or new clothes and shoes, or even drinking too much. I thought that if I just had the best grade, it would make up for the fact that I didn't ever think the girl in the mirror was pretty. Or if that if I fished for enough compliments from a boy, I'd start to believe them. Or if I bought enough of the newest things and wore nothing but new clothes, I'd hide the ugly person I thought I was. Or if I drank enough, then I wouldn't remember all the reasons I didn't feel like I was enough. None of it worked and for so many years I just hurt.

.

I wish I could tell you I woke up and turned a magic age and it all went away. I still sometimes struggle with these things. I know I'm not alone either because I'm pretty sure every girl I've ever met can relate to this in some way or another. It's kinda sad isn't it? That's why I wanted to start blogging. Because I wanted to tell my story and tell you all that you're not alone and that you're all so incredibly beautiful. And that each of us is beautiful in a different way just like a Rose and a Daisy are. And how when we start to understand where our beauty and worth truly come from, our lives are forever changed. *steps off soap box*

When I was a little girl, my mom always told me that Jesus loved me. And I went to Sunday school and they told me that too. Which is never a bad thing. I mean I guess I believed it, but not necessarily. In my mind, Jesus was someone we prayed to and learned about in school. But actually Jesus is God. Like He's the big guy up there in heaven that created everything. He was the one that was there when Noah had his Ark, and He's the one that wrote the 10 commandments. He's pretty important in the whole scheme of things.

And not only does He love me (you too!) but He took it upon Himself to die for me and you.  Yes, you! I know, I said the same thing. It's actually a little bit crazy that the GOD of the whole entire everything died for us isn't it? I mean I would think He'd have bigger (less painful) fish to fry. But nope. He DIED for us. That's my secret! I realized that the King of the Universe, the God of everything looked at me and considered my life worth giving up His. and it just blew. my. mind.  And let me tell you girls that He also considered your life (even with all the crazy parts) worth dying for. So I mean really, if someone that important can put that much value on your life, you have to as well!! Isn't it fabulous?!

So maybe for some of you, this is something you've heard your whole lives too but I hope you will take the rest of the day to just mentally chew on it (yeah I just used that phrase). And for those of you who are just learning of this fabulous news, I have even better news for you!! Not only did Jesus die for you, He wants to know you and all you have to do is ask him to forgive you for all the bad things in your life and to come be with you. He will too, I promise!

I have come quite a long way but I'm still a work in progress but I am so happy to have a way to share my heart with you all because I think you're all fabulous. Seriously, I do!

Oxblood

That's the name of the color that is "the new black" this fall. Can we all just agree that those people who pick names for these sorts of things could have picked a better name for this color? I mean isn't it supposed to appeal to women?! Anyways, take a peek!

Pretty fab isn't it?! I mean its not like I've never seen this color before but I love how refreshingly different it is for this year. It's totally a thing this season and I really think it actually works for all skin tones. (side note: I'm obsessed with a fan of all things Will and Kate so I love that she's rocking this color too!)

So I've been trying to come up with little ways to incorporate this color into my wardrobe without totally splurging (a girl's gotta save money!). I mean a top in this color is a no brainer, but sometimes it's a little more fun to add a color to your outfit in a more unexpected way like a scarf or some shoes or even a bag! If that's even too much for you, maybe just look for tops or dresses that have a print with this color.

I love this little palate below because it gives you kind of a starting place for what you can pair this color with. Don't be afraid to try really opposite colors with it like the Cornflower or navy. I personally think animal print goes really well with just about anything so it totally makes sense that it's at the top of the list. ;)

So let's chat! Are you planning on incorporating this color into your wardrobe for fall? If so, how?

Have a fabulous week!!

Except me. I love it all. And even more than that, I love Jesus. So I wanted to start a blog because I think my husband can only handle so much talk about grey nail polish (I still have mixed emotions about it), Frye boots (I'm dying to get my hands on a pair), and my experiences with different bronzers (Tarte is my current obsession). I also want to use this blog as a platform to help women understand their own beauty on the outside and inside. I'm still a work in progress in this department but I get the feeling its always going to be that way.

So I guess it's more of a journey. Sometimes we talk about fabulous, glorious shoes/bags/clothes/ nail polish  and sometimes we talk about learning to find beauty other ways. Because lets be real, all the Chanel in the world can't make you feel pretty.

I hope you'll join me for the ride and have a little fun too because fashion is never finished!
